I had a couple of really great weeks and then i just kinda slipped off the points watching wagon. I have gained back 2 and a 1/2 pounds. I havent been going to the Gym faithfully either. When my computer died i lost all my weight loss data, and my food jouranl. I have to buy a cable to connect the old hard drive to my new pc to get it all back but finances are really tight for a couple of more weeks and that just isnt gonna happen any time soon. Quitting smoking has been a struggle too. I started taking Chantix again and it is helping with the cravings and my dreams are very vivid but i still have a cigarette every once and awhile. sigh. I need to go back and remind myself why i am doing all of this.
I tried on some of my Garb for war since i have an event coming up in a few weeks and my weight loss has made it so some of my outfits actually look pretty good. You can actually tell I have somewhat of a waistline now.  I also went to the fabric store and bought some flannel to make some skirts, im exploring getting into a scottish style of dress. Southern Crusades is in 4 weeks and I hope i can have my new outfits by then. My friend/seamstress lives kinda far but I will make the 150 mile round trip just to get my outfits made.
Work is going pretty well I'm kinda getting into a routine figuring out who needs my help and who doesnt. Everyone is really good at their jobs and most of the time I have to find things to do, since I really hate to be bored.  One of the girls really wants my help so she can catch up on her paperwork and filing so im going to concentrate on helping her next week.
Hopefully by my next blog I will be out of this funk and back on track. Take care folks!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hi Everybody!!
Yes I am finally getting to my blog!
What a busy first month at work. I have totally enjoyed most of it. LOL. There is one doctor there who does things in such a bassakwards way that it is really frustrating to work with him.  I still have to do it so I am considering it a challenge and I will master his way of doing things, no matter how stupid or old fashioned they are. So there!
I went through a 2 week period were i gained .4 then the next week i gained .6. Then I got really focused again and watched the intake of alcohol and food, Lo and behold I lost 6 pounds! Holy Smokes! I was sooo excited. Then I had a week of missing out on my workout. Last week I only went 1 time, yes I said once. Jeez! Everytime I needed to go I had another obligation to take care of or I was just goofing off or slightly hungover and skipped. So again this week is going to be focusing on Workout and not so much on other people.  I figure if they are my friends they will understand that I am going to skip ladies night or not spend so much time at it. I can go out on other nights too!
I did a stoopid thing! I started smoking again! Im such a doob sometimes. Now I have to quit all over again. Like it wasn't hard the last 6 times I did it. Totally being sarcastic can you tell!
On the social front.......I went to a Goth Club for Transylvania night last friday. It was kinda interesting to see some of the outfits. One guy even had a black cloak and a big skull mask on. It was really cool. Still not my kinda thing but it was fun to hang out with some of my friends that I dont get to see very often. Not to mention the Dancing. I love to dance!
The weekend before that we had a family gathering at my sisters house which was really fun. We made mexican food, drank, and went swimming. I thought I was done swimming though and got dressed. Silly me, I should have known I wasn't done when my Brother, Son, and Brother~in~law threw me in the pool! Gotta love them though it was all in fun. Right up until the point when i realized I had my Blackberry on me! Sheez! Luckily I had a back up phone until I could replace it. I got my replacement phone today, YAY! This makes me very happy! It's charging!
Not much happening on the Romantic front. I decided to let the guys come to me instead of me going for them. If they are scared maybe I should wait for the one who isn't scared of approaching me. We'll see how that goes!
Well that's all folk's!
Talk to you again soon.
by the way I lost another 2.3 today!!

Hi! Long time no blog!

Wow So since I started my new Job I obviously have slacked off on the blog. Sorry peeps! It's been a cool place to work so far. I pretty much tell them what I want to do and do it. It is a cake walk. Soo much better than my last job where I suffered to try and get my work done. YAY! I have been on a 2 week no weight loss period and it has been frustrating. This week starting on tuesday I decided to get really focused on my food intake and I peeked at the scale and it is working. Finally the scale move down 2 pounds. Now all I have to do is keep it off and hopefully it will go down more by weigh in on tuesday. I havent done much else but work go to the gym and go out with friends. I have come to the conclusion that I am scary. Yes I said scary. Men are afraid to date me. I guess it's because I am confident and I go for what I want. Am I pushy? I guess that depends on whether or not the guy has any self-esteem. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! hahaha
sorry this is a short one but I gotta go get ready to meet my bff for some good times!! will check in with you again soon!

Gainfully Employed!

I Got a JOB!
Oh so no more playing around and focusong only on weight loss. I actually have to figure out a schedule for the Gym and stick to it. I was thinking that I will go on tuesday, thursday, saturday, and sunday. This way Im still doing 4 days a week and only twice during the work week.  I do have to make adjustment with the ww plan though and change my weigh in to Tuesday. This means that instead of weighing in today I'm waiting til tomorrow. I tried getting on the scale at work and I said I gained 5 pounds. I know i gained this week but not that much! I hope. I just decided instead of going through changing scales, I'm just going to switch days.
Pary time!
I went to a party with a Middle Eastern theme over the weekend and had tons of fun. This is the outfit I wore.  I enjoyed meeting lots of new people and the food was really good. I am not a huge fan of Curried dishes but I did indulge a little to taste. Most Curried dishes are made with a base of carmelized onions, not point/calorie friendly at all! They also served Tabouli, turkish delight, hummus and pita, lamb skewers and much much more. I behaved you would have been proud of me. I did enjoy some home brewed beer also.

It's Chili season! I am a native of New Mexico and a Green Chili Fanatic! It has to come from Hatch NM in order for it to be good! IMO (in my opinion) it has to be Hot as well! So every August we used to drive from Phoenix to Albuquerque or Las Vegas NM to visit family and buy Chili, but recently we havent been able to make it out there. I just happened to learn that Arriba's Mexican Grill restraunt has their chili shipped in from Hatch NM and they buy enough to sell it to the public too! So exciting and they roast it for you! Now if I cant make it to NM I go there. First thing I did with the chili is make Green Chili Stew. Easy recipie and my comfort food. The south has Grits, I have Green chili!

That's all for now my friends. I will try to keep up with my blog now that I am employed. Take care!

Accountability Statement:

Delusion or Reality?

When I become "Hot" Some guy is going to fall in Love with me and want to take care of me. My whole attitude will change and I will be a different person.

I posed this question on the WW message board just to see what people think, because I think that a lot of women out there actually belive this. Sometimes I am one of them. So I wanted to get perspective on the thought. Here is what I got by way of responses. I am not going to include names just their responses.

You want honesty, right? :D Here it comes.
I think it is delusional to think that life is going to suddenly be 100% perfect just because you lose some lbs.
......but i think it's normal to have an attitude change. That part is not delusional.

It's not the *most* delusional thing I've heard today... I work with schizophrenia patients
But, the right man will fall in love with you, not your dress size. You don't want to date a Shallow Hal, do ya?!

I know plenty of skinny, beautiful, wonderful women who don't have any man in their lives (not necessarily by choice) and some who have true jerks.
And I know women who are overweight who have wonderful, amazing men in their lives.

When I was thin and (if I do say so myself) pretty hot....had the most awful abusive, self-centered man god ever created in my life...
so yeah, dillusional. I think it all comes down to how you feel about yourself and that's what is either attractive or not.
Love yourself...every lb of you and others will too.
I pick, unrealistic. haha It could happen, it could happen now by the way...personally, I don't think skinny should have a part in it.
Delusional, no. You are a little misguided perhaps. Once you get in shape, you may have a larger pool of interested guys to choose from, but if you don't take stock of your self-worth, you could end up with a jerk. Maybe a hot one, but who cares about that if they are ugly on the inside?
The thought of it is normal but the reality of it is dilusional.
No matter what your weight is, there is no knight in shinning armor. However, there are really good guys out their just no knights. The good guys will love you no matter what your weight is. Beauty fades and dumb is forever and the good guys know it.

when you are large they will barely look at, I don't think you are wrong. You may not find the right one then either, but at least more will look and you may have a better chance. IMHO.

When I finally got to goal, something inside of me change. I became more confident and secure with myself, which lead me to be happy. And instead of shying away from other people, I actually gravitated towards people. I have a more active social life with friends and new friends now then I did at 265 pounds, and I credited to losing weight for the above reasons.
So yeah, I dreamed that once I got to goal my whole life would change for the better, and it did. But the weight loss was not the direct cause of it, the weight loss caused a change in ME which was the cause of it.
Wow Smart ladies!
Obviously I only chose a few select answers as the thread was quite long on the message board but these were the ones that struck home with me. I have to agree with the ladies, especially this last one, where she said "the the weight loss caused a change in Me which was the cause of it".
What was my conclusion.....
I am a pretty outgoing person. Generally I am not afraid to speak my mind, especially if I have been drinking. I have noticed in crowds of new people I am a bit more shy until I  get to know them better but still if asked a direct question or my opinion I'll give it to you. I try new things all the time and I do not hurt for friends. I will find new ones if i get to feeling lonley only adding to the friends  I already have. Now when It comes to men that I may be interested in.....sigh. I dont know what it is. I guess I can be a bit tough, strong willed, independent in some ways, and yet dependent in others. Men used to look at me more often when I weighed 145lbs and I have to say I loved the attention. I miss it. I feel like there is a part of me missing because I have gained weight and Im not going to get that part back until I lose it. I know I am a fun person but I dont get the responses I used to get back then as I do now.
So do I think that I am going to find Mr Right just because I lose weight? Maybe not but as the ladies said more Mr's will be interested and Ill have more to choose from.
Accountability statement:
Made it to the Gym both yesterday and today though a little later today as I slept in. I have to make a little confession that I have been smoking here and there for a couple of months but last week I actually bought a pack of cigarettes. It lasted me over a week but I am beginning to feel the nagging wants/need to have one here and there. So I threw away the pack that I had and I am once again going to try and stay away from it. I cannont go back to smoking it was killing me slowly but surely. I need to remember that.

It's a love/hate relationship with myself!

Arrrrrgh! Some days are just like that!
How was your weekend everybody? Mine was mostly good and then it turned bad. Fault lying with myself. You know when you do something and you have a lightbulb go off saying you idiot why did you do that? and then you have to do damage control to fix it. Yup that was me. Cant go back and change it just have to go forward. Then of course there is always one person you know that has to knock you down further by pointing out your mistakes again making you feel even more stupid, when your at an all time low already. sigh!
Forgive and Forget, Right!?
Who yourself or the other person? Both silly! otherwise it will fester and blow up into something humongus and stupid. So here i am trying to get through the day and let it all go. Pay attention to the here and now and let the past be past.
On a wonderful note, I lost 3 pounds! Woo Hoo! total now is 14.6 in 7 weeks!
Awesome stuff that is! It's getting kind of hard to manage buying all the foods I like on this budget of no money but were scraping by. I've kicked into the job hunting a little more seriously this week too. Not having money to buy the things I need nevermind the wants, really sucks! I have an SCA event coming up and I want to be able to afford to go to it. So the Job hunting must commence and the money saving also if in case the Job doesnt come through. This means my social life will be very little in the next month or two. Lucky for me I go to the Gym as often as I do it really helps keep the stress levels at bay.
I have really appreciated the support of my family and friends of late. If it weren't for all of you cheering me on, I would probably have not done quite so well. I have said hello to a new friend and good bye to another. They come and go in our lives so quickly sometimes but you have to cherish and enjoy them while you have them. Man, am I rambling or what? LOL
I hope you all have a wonderful day. I will be getting together with the trainer hopefully friday to reevaluate my workout and measure. I will definatly keep you posted on my progress!

Accountability statement:
Didnt go to the gym on monday, due to having to go to the bank, social security, police station and calling all the credit bureau's to put fraud alerts, to secure my identity to me once again. As well as i possibly could anyway. Went today though and did a good workout on the Elliptical and upper body weights. Will go tomorrow to make up for monday. Trying to plan my food better for the weekend as I have a party on Saturday and have no idea if food is going to be served or what kind. It is middle eastern themed so we'll see. May have to save all my weekly points for saturday.

Have a good week, I'll talk to you soon!

Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Mango Salsa
For the Chicken:
4 6oz skinless boneless chicken breasts

1. Heat a large nonstich skillet over med-high heat. Sprinkle Jerk seasoning and salt evenly over chicken. Coat chicken with cooking spray. Add chicken to the pan, cook 4 minutes each side or until done.
2. While chicken cooks, combine 1/4 tsp salt, cilantro, and remaining ingredients for salsa. (i make this ahead of time and let it sit in the fridge to marinate/meld flavors)
calories 244 fat 2.4 fiber 1.6 (using 1/2cup of salsa for a serving only 5 points!)

Sautee'd Brussel Sprouts

12 or so Fresh brussel sprouts ends trimmed and quartered
2 Tbsp olive oil
1Tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 cup white wine (can substitute chicken stock)
1/4 red onion sliced
1. In a large skillet heat up the olive oil on med-high heat. Toss in onions and Brussel sprouts. Toss to coat in oil and carmelize, brown lightly the sprouts, about 3-4 minutes. Sprinkle in the crushed red pepper flakes and toss. Then pour in white wine cover and simmer for about 4 minutes.

This is what I had for dinner and it took maybe 1/2 hour to 45minutes to prepare, cook, and eat! that's pretty darn fast.
Today was a pretty mellow day for me. Not much going on in my life to talk about. I hope you try this recipie, I found it really yummy!

Accountability Statement for today:
I made it to the Gym! Woo hoo! It was a good workout on the legs and a mile on the tredmill. I increased the weight on some of the machines because it was starting to get kinda easy to do. That in itself is a non scale victory (NSV) for me.

A Spirited Discussion!

Mas Tequila!
How do you drink Alcohol and lose weight?
The age old saying says it all, In moderation! Let me show you some ways to add in a cocktail or two so you dont have to miss out on ladies night or an evening with good friends.  When I gave up drugs I gave up alcohol too. Then about 3 years into my sobriety I said to hell with all this I'm not an alcoholic Im going to have a drink if I want to. I dont accept lectures about an addict to one thing an addict to all. I can live a day or two or more without a drink. When I was on Meth I'd sell whatever i could get my hands on for it always.  HUGE difference.
I drink get over it!

Let's talk about Liquors

Your average and not so average clear (for the most part can see through it) spirit is a pretty fair choice. On WW's they run you about 2 points for a shot. By clear Spirit I'm talking about Rum, Vodka, Tequila, Scotch, Whiskey, Jageremeister, Gin and such. So they are a good choice straight up or on the rocks. Say you cant do shots, or dont like them well, look for a friendly mixer. You say you like Rum and coke, Make it a Diet Coke it's still 2 pts, same goes for Whiskey and Diet Coke.  I personally Love a good Vodka and Cranberry, So I choose Cherry vodka and I mix it with Diet Cran Raspberry from Ocean Spray again 2 pts. My point is the Alcohol isn't always the worst  part of the deal when dealing with these types of Liquors. Avoid OJ, Sweetened Pineapple drinks, Milk in a drink, Any of the Foo Foo drinks like daquri's. They are Killers in calories/points.  Use Diet soda's, Diet or sugar free Juice's, Water when you want to have a drink.
So you say you like Bailiey's Irish Cream, Tequila Rose, Creme de Menthe and the like, well sorry you're just going to have to fit it in to your day there is no lighter choice for these types of Liquors. You can still have them just not a lot. Serious moderation needed with these.

 Let's have a Beer

One of my favorites! I love beer! So it all depends on what you like here also. If you're into Domestic beer you're in luck! The average full flavor beer ie Bud, Miller, Coors, are gonna cost you 3pts a 12oz bottle. If you dont mind kicking it back to a Lite beer it will cost you 2pts a 12oz bottle. Now if your not huge on flavor and dont mind super lite beer Bud Select 55 and Miller Genuine 64 are 1 point a 12oz bottle. (if your on WW's look into using your calculator when you are counting multiple drinks of these last two beers as you know 1+1 does not always = 2) Often the choice I make at the bar has more to do with how many points/calories I Have available to me on any given day. Now if your into really dark beers and some of your more wheaty types of beers whether foreign or domestic, I am not as familiar with the points/calories for these and you will have to research them on your own. As you should with anything you choose to consume always trust yourself first when figuring out points/calories. Although I think a Guinness will run you 4 pts a 12 oz glass.  Try using and other Nutritional Info websites as your guide. Google is your friend!!

 Love Me Some Wine!

As for Wine this is a Great choice in my opinion .  4oz of Wine is 2 points doesn't matter if it's white or red. I do seriously recommend filling up your favorite wine glass with water to the normal fill point you usually pour, then pour that water into a measuring cup. It will amaze you just exactly how much wine you are actually drinking. Plus it tends to be higher in alcohol content and you dont need as much to get the edge off.

About the Margarita
I'm sorry it is my opinion that there is no real substitute for this drink that will render as good a tasting drink as the origional. There are a few mixers out there now that are Sugar Free but the consensis is they are not as good. You again will have to play with this yourself. If you are a mixologist who get's into making drinks fresh from whole food type ingredients then hey im coming to your place! No, Seriously, you might have a chance at getting a great Margarita.

In water one sees one's own face; But in wine one beholds the heart of another.
                          Cheer's My Freinds!

Weigh in today!

Today at the Gym the scale was kind, I am down 1 1/2 more pounds! YAY for me!! This makes a total of 11.6 in 6 weeks time. Not bad.
I am a Pizza fanatic. I cannot live the rest of my life and never have pizza again. The problem with most pizza's is they are sooooo fattening. I mean the points for One measley slice of pizza is anywhere from 5 to 10 points and it can get higher if you're not careful. So lately I have been finding ways to get in a pizza fix without killing myself in points/calories.  This has led me to the flatbread craze. Man this is the best way to make a low point pizza and keep it healthy! All I do is crisp up a flatbread on a pizza stone in the oven for 3 minutes on 400 degrees, take it out and top it with whatever I want and pop it back in for 2 minutes to melt the cheese.  Tomorrow's variety will have fresh tomatoes that I am maranating in garlic basil and balsalmic vinegar, topped off with mozzarella cheese. I so cannot wait for this!
Well I am discovering that it is pretty hard to come up with things to say in a blog when you do it everyday. So that's it for today.  Hopefully I'll have tons more to say next time I write! thanks for reading!!

Accountability Statement:
Went to the gym today as you already know. I chose to get on the elliptical today because nearly all the tredmills were being used. I was thrilled to learn that I can now go 15 minutes on the elliptical before I feel like falling over. The very first day I tried it I could only do 8 minutes and I pushed it to get there. So I am very happy about that. My endurance is building up! So EXCITING!!

I Decorated a cake today for a pot luck at my mom's church. As you can see I really need to practice my writing/piping skills. My hand was a bit  shakey this morning. It was fun though and looks like I'll be getting that practice in here in the near future. Lucky for me we dont keep the cakes around the house otherwise I would probably indulge too often. We are making them for other people and giving them away. I have done other cakes and you can view them on my myspace page if you would like that's @  I believe it is viewable by the public.

I wanted to share a Recipie with you today that I love. I wouldnt go right to saying it is low in points or anything like that but it is really good.  If your on WW  the recipie is for 4 servings at 10 points a serving, obviously the sauce is what makes up most of the points so if you went light on the sause when serving it up you could lighten up the points a bit. you could also cook the pork is small peices instead of in chops and make the serving size a little different and therefore making the point per serving come down also. use your recipie builder and play with it.

Brandied Peach Pork

2 tbsp olive oil
4 lean pork loin chops
1/4 cup red onion or shallots
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp fresh thyme
1/4 cup brandy
1/4 cup apricot marmalade
(sugar free for a lighter choice)
10oz pkg frozen peaches

Preheat your skillet at med high heat, when its hot add olive oil and place in the pork chops. Brown the pork chops on both sides getting a nice sear on each side, remove from heat, they wont be completely cooked at this point. Cover with foil and set aside. Into the pan add the butter and onion/shallots sautee until translucent about 1 or 2 minutes then add fresh thyme and stir. Pour in the brandy and allow to cook for about a minute to cook off some of the alcohol. Add in the marmalade and melt down about another minute. Then place the pork chops back in add the frozen peaches and cover. reduce to simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes
It is such a good tasting dish I know you will enjoy it. I cook it for my family often.
I went to see the movie Eat Pray Love last night with my mom and sister. It was great for the three of us to enjoy some time just us girls, I love them soo much! The movie was pretty good. Who doesnt love Julia Roberts, right?! Total chick flick I was totally jealous of the Eat portion of this movie as it is in my favorite country, Italy. I love to cook italian, eat italian, drink italian wine, and Dream of spending a few months in Italy some day learning to cook and love and live italian style.......maybe someday. SIGH!
That's all for today everybody I'll talk to you tomorrow!

Accountability Statement for today:
Not too much happening today in my world, I didnt go to the Gym today. Chose to sleep in and enjoy some good dreams. This means i didnt make it to the PureCore class this week.  Made flatbread pizza's at lunch, and I am just killing time with my blog. Going out to celebrate my Bff's birthday tonight and go dancing. Good way to get in some cardio!

Points for this, Points for that, What the heck are points?

I am always talking in points when it comes to food. I am a trained Weight Watcher. WW's has a formula that uses Calories Fat and Fiber to figure out how many "points" a particular food is worth. Then you have to figure out how much you can/want to eat in order to use up the amount of Points you are required to eat in a day. Currently I am given 26 points in a day. (That number is not for everybody so dont use it as a guide for yourself. If you want to do WW join the program and learn how it's done, today I'm just trying to give you an idea of how I plan my meals and a basic understanding of WW's without breaking any copyright laws. That way you will understand my future posts without these long explanations.)  Ok back to my 26 points. When I first started WW's I had my little points calculator with me when i go to the grocery store and right there in the store before i even considered buying the item i looked up the points. Then if i thought it was worth it I would take it home and write on it with a Sharpie marker the Points value so i didnt have to look it up over and over again. Now, I have done WW's several times over the last 7 years and I can kinda get a good idea what the points of a food is in the store without my calculator but I still double check it because guessing all the time leads to weight stalling and gaining in some cases. I also measure all my food. Instead of serving myself with a serving spoon I use a measuring cup so I know exactly how much I ate and therefore exactly how many points.  I try to eat breakfast everyday but sometimes i fail because I am not a breakfast eater and I just plain forget. Lately Ive been trying to get better about it and therefore eating breakfast probably 4 to 5 times a week. I try to keep breakfast in the 4 points or less range, lunch to around 6 or 7 points, dinner 8-10 points and then i use the remaining for cocktails and snacks. We are supposed to use our points in a good healthy way by following the Good Health Guidelines WW gives which is very similar to the food pyramid. Grains, dairy, meats, fruits and veggies, healthy oils. Getting these in helps you to eat healthy and uses your points in a healthy way. You could eat junk stay within your points and still lose weight but it's not healthy and doesnt teach you to eat healthier for the long run. I personally  believe WW's teaches me how to eat for the rest of my life, a lifestyle change if you will. I love WW's because even on a day when i dont wanna eat all healthy and I want some pizza and beer I can have it, just count it, keep it to a healthy portion and enjoy! Who wants to be on a diet where you can never have pizza and beer ever again? NOT ME!!
Cooking healthy comes easy to me. I love to cook in Olive oil so I get in healthy oils easily. Making simple changes to a recipie can lower the fat and calories and up the fiber so easily that I can have just about anything I want and make it healthy and good. YUM! It is easy to find lighter recipies all over the internet. I gotta give a shout out to the ladies on the WW's Newbie Message Board! Ahhhhhh they are AMAZING and a wealth of information, support and fun! If i ever cant find something on my own they always know just what to do. They offer their own recipies and ideas freely I couldnt do this without them.
In addition to the 26 points a day, i get 35 points to use as i wish during a week, we weigh in once a week so the 35 points resets on weigh in (WI) day. I love these 35 points these are my going out to eat with family and friends points, oh and cocktails. Life savers these little 35 pts. I usually use 1/2 of them one night and 1/2 of them another night in the middle of my week. Never the night before WI.
Do I spend a lot of time focusing on what im eating? Yes I do but I look at it this way if I didnt I would still remain Plus size. I still eat pizza only now i make it with flatbread, homemade sauce, veggie toppings and low fat cheese, Delicious. I make fruit smoothies almost everyday with diet cranberry juice, frozen mixed fruits, fat free yogurt and blend, maybe top with lite cool whip. Grill steaks with Roasted vegetables, Sweet potatoes, or summer squash. I play with new recipies often. Well I hope you got an idea of how I do this and why. Maybe understanding the points thing will help make sense of future posts.

Something i said in my post yesterday just sounded pretty stupid to me so Im going to say this: I shop in the plus size section and though sometimes the clothes look frumpy I have to admit there are some clothes that are pretty darn nice and look pretty darn good. Some days i just feel fatter then others and yesterday must have been one of those days. I still want to be able to shop "off the rack" so to speak though and in any store. That's all!

Accountability Statement for today:
I actually got outta bed early this morning thanks to my Bff for calling and getting me moving. Went to the gym and did my Cardio and Arms/weight machines. So far a pretty good day.

Workin' It!

Woke up this morning and rolled over thinking to myself you should get up and go to the Gym. Never works I go back to sleep for another hour or so until I get up and make coffee. I almost never remember to set the coffee maker the night before to automatically brew, if I did I would get up a lot earlier every day.  I am sooo not a morning person!  I was thinking today that I would cut my workout short and start the PureCore workout class tonight, but when I got to the Gym and did my mile on the tredmill I said what the heck just finish your usual workout anyway your already here, YAY! Non Scale Victory (NSV) for me! It remains to be seen yet whether or not I make it to the class tonight, if not, there is one on Saturday morning I can still make it to.
Another happy thing is that the Gym found my Card that was lost with all my Stats on it so I now know where I started. This makes me very happy! :)

So here are my stats:
Start/at 1 month
Body fat %:42%/41%

So as you can see my measurements yesterday are different but I prefer to go by what the Gym has as it is someone else doing the measuring keeping me accountable.
Up to this point I am committed to going to the Gym 4 days a week, M,T,Th, F. On these days I do 20 minutes of cardio either on the tredmill or the elliptical. I'm a wouse though and it is harder to do the elliptical, so i have been opting for the tredmill quite a bit lately. I really like it though so I may only do the elliptical when Im feeling froggy. Once I finish that i go to the weight machines alternating days of arms and legs. Monday and Thursday are legs, Tuesday and Friday are arms. I had over heard one of the trainers telling a new client that if your pulling on those machines and it's not hard and doesnt make you wanna quit by the time your at your 8 or 9 count your not doing it right. So I have made it my goal to use the proper weight or to increase from 10 reps to 15. This way I know I'm actually workin out those muscles and not just going through the motions with no benefit. Then I go do these things that Jeremy wants me to do, Ball Squats. These Damn things kick my butt literally!  You start in a sitting position holding a 10 lbs. medicine ball and you stand up at the same time raising the medicine ball above your head using both hands and then back to a seated position.  Jeremy wants me to do 75, thats 3 sets of 25.....I actually do about 50, thats 3 sets of 15 with me pushing my self here and there at the end and trying to get in 1 or 2 more if i can. Now if I  have no plans on the weekends in the mornings I will sometimes go to the Gym for a bonus workout but at this point It's not part of the commitment. As I get more fit then I will add in more days to the committed ones, for now I'm happy with what im doing. I'm sore quite often but not too awful bad.
I have been going Clothes shopping with my Mommy lately to buy clothes for her Cruise. I cant tell you how excited I will be when I can walk into those same stores and not have to find the PlusSize section, you know the really small section with the limited supply of choices in the frumpy look. I will be able to walk up to some of the millions of racks of normal size clothes and have tons of choices! I cant wait!

Accountability Statement for Today:
I didnt get out of bed early enough to eat breakfast, therefore i did my workout on an empty stomach. Then I came home and jumped in the shower right away and got ready to go shopping, and left without eating. So I went almost the whole day til 3pm without eating. Not good! I have to make sure to not do this. On the plus side i still have 26 points to get me through til bedtime........hmmmm I think this calls for Cocktails!

Remember Why!

They say that when you start a journey to lose weight you should write down all the reasons why you are doing it. This way when you get discouraged or want to just give up you can look at it and Remember Why. I did just that and Im going to share them with you:

  1. I Want to be able to run again without dying to catch my breath after the first 5 minutes.
  2. So I can reach down and tie my shoes.
  3. So that sitting down isnt uncomfortable.
  4. To be able to climb the stairs without getting winded.
  5. I want Men to find me attractive (not to say there aren't men out there now who do, but the majority of them just pass me by. I want them to say ooooh she's cute! I want to turn heads!)
  6. I want to be able to roll over while laying down  much more easily. (doesnt sound hard but it is for me)
  7. I want my blood sugars to be normal again.
  8. I want my blood pressure to stay normal.
  9. I want to be able to go into the clothing store and walk up to any rack and buy what I want, and not in the Maternity/Plus Size section.
  10. I want to be able to lie down on my stomach again.
  11. I want to look in the mirror and like the person I see there.
  12. I want Sex to be  Great fun again. (yes its difficult with a 50lbs belly to work around!)
  13. I want to look fairly good in a bathing suit.

Luck Number 13! go figure. Most of all I am doing this because I can and nobody but me can change it. Lots of people tell me that if I was able to set my mind to Quit drugs and change my life ( i call it hitting the reset button ) than I can do this.

Accountability Statement for today:
No gym had important stuff to do with my son (I dont normally go on Wed anyway).
Ate lunch out at Alice Cooperstown and only ate 1/2 my salad. Huge accomplishment for me! My son was actually shocked that I stopped. He was very glad too cuz he got to eat it! hahaha!

My chosen path....

I have been overweight for 10 years now. In 2000 I weighed 145lbs. I was a full blown  iv meth addict looking to change my life. Though this blog is not about my drug addiction or my journey to freedom from drugs I felt it necessary to tell you where it all started. (I was successful and have been clean 10 years now)  So there I was in Rehab for 13 full months without cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol to fill my time. What did i do? I ATE! In that time I gained 65 lbs, and over the years have added on 25 more. There I was thinking to myself, I want to be hot, I want to be a head turner, I want men to look at me and stare. Is that so bad? I dont think so!

Most of all I want the girl in the mirror to match the girl in my head.

At the Beginning of June 2010 I decided it was high time I got off my Ass and did something about it. It wasnt going to happen because I wanted it to. No I was going to have to put in some effort. Since I became unemployed recently I decided I had plenty of time to focus on doing just that. My first step was to join a Gym. I chose Pure Fitness as it is close to my house and they only charge $19. a month.  I wanted to pay for it all in advance so i wouldnt have to worry about where that $19. was going to come from a few months from now. So I took the last of the money I earned and paid for the whole year in advance. Woo hoo! the Gym gave me 6 months for free. So I have no excuses for the next 1 1/2 years!!  I also get to meet with the Trainer once a month to evaluate my workout and my weight loss included in the price.

The next step was to choose how I am going to lose the weight. We all know, or should know, Losing weight is 70% food intake and 30% workout. 70% That's a HUGE number. I know that over the last 10 years I have tried 3 different ways to lose weight. The first one I tried and had good success with is Weight Watchers, I lost 45 pounds in 2003 and gained it all back when i quit caring. The Second way I tried was South Beach Diet, I lost 40 pounds and again gained it all back when I quit caring.  I tried Low Carb failing miserably within 2 weeks because I cant Live without breads of some kind in my life. Nevermind the occasional glass of Wine,  Beer, and Pizza gotta have that! So I have chosen to go back to the tried and true that allows me to have all of the above mentioned guilty pleasures and anything else I want, Weight Watchers.

I started this journey on June 28th with the gym sign up and started WW (Weight Watchers) the following monday. The Gym did take my measurments and all my stats on that first day but when I went to the gym this morning they had lost/misplaced my card, grrrrr. So I came home and remeasured, took before photos, and started this blog.  So as of Today 5 weeks into my weightloss journey here are my stats:

Beginning Weight~     235
Week 1 Weight~       232 /-3
Week 2 Weight~       231.5/-0.5
Week 3 Weight~       232/+0.5
Week 4 Weight~       226.8/-5.2
Week 5 Weight~       224.9/-1.9

Measurements at the one month mark:

Waist~45" (if memory serves I was at 46" when i started but i cant be positive)
Thigh~22.5" (I believe I am down an inch in both my legs and arm also)

And here is the official Before Picture!
